Park Central
Frequently Asked Questions

Can I afford Park Central?
Yes, and many of our residents are here simply because it is so affordable. We try to make it as easy as possible for you to evaluate Park Central from a financial perspective. One free service we offer is a specialized computer program that will explore ways to put your home equity to work for future retirement living options. This unique software evaluates individual financial resources in relation to the affordability of services within the Park Central continuum of care. Again, there is no charge for the report generated by this program. If you would like to schedule an individual consultation or learn more about monthly service fees, please call 337-5700.

Are there any up-front or buy-in fees?
Not at all. Unlike many other retirement communities, your money will not be tied up in a long-term contract at Park Central. Our many services and amenities are provided for a single monthly fee. Upon move-in to our retirement centers and assisted living centers, you’ll be asked to pay a $500.00 deposit.

What is the difference between assisted living and retirement living?
While both assisted living and retirement living provide a number of similar services — including meals, housekeeping, transportation, and a full calendar of social events —assisted living takes these a step farther. Assisted living provides personal services such as medication management or assistance with bathing, dressing, and grooming. The type and frequency of these services, along with personal preferences, are determined by an assessment conducted by our Health Services Coordinator. This assessment allows residents to receive services appropriate to their individual abilities and needs — all while maintaining their maximum independence.

Are pets allowed?
Yes! Park Central recognizes the companionship, love, gratitude, and fun that pets provide. That’s why we welcome them as part of our family. Pets are welcome at The Continental Retirement Center on floors one through three, where a special pet run was constructed during the Continental renovation.  In addition, Park Central’s Caring Canine Club, a group of certified dog/handler teams, volunteers in our facility at all levels of residency making regular visits to our residents.

What is a certified Eden Alternative home?
Developed by Harvard Medical School graduate Dr. William Thomas, the Eden Alternate is the process of changing a typical institutional nursing home setting into a vibrant human habitat.  We have created a diverse and harmonious environment that directly meets residents’ needs for companionship, spontaneity and the opportunity to give care.
How is it done?  We replace loneliness, boredom and helplessness with the laughter of children, live-in companion animals, and the nourishing beauty of indoor plants and gardens.

Do you have a specialized Alzheimer’s Facility?
The Village at Ware Living Center is a certified Alzheimer’s Unit that has been specifically designed for residents with significant dementia.  Our staff is specially trained to meet the needs of residents afflicted with Alzheimer’s disease or a related disorder.  Within the Village you will find a Multi-Sensory Room that was constructed specifically for relaxation and enjoyment by persons with sensory disabilities, east and west gardens with easy accessibility, and a 24- hour café.  Validation Therapy is practiced at the Village.  Validation is a proven model of practice that helps disoriented people reduce stress and enhance dignity and happiness.

Who owns and operates Park Central?
Park Central is locally owned and operated by Baptist Community Services (B.C.S.).  Baptist Community Services is a Texas non-profit corporation (formerly known as High Plains Baptist Health Systems), which has been in existence since 1987 and is affiliated with the Baptist General Convention of Texas.  We do business in accordance with the Federal Fair Housing Law (The Fair Housing Amendments Act of 1988).  Park Central welcomes people of all faiths.

Baptist Community Services’ leadership teams, from the Board of Trustees to our staff, recognize that our residents and those who use any of our services and facilities deserve the best.  Our goal, our reason for being, is to meet, and even exceed, those expectations of the residents and families, now and in the future.
